Leading the Way in Heart Health and Recovery

TERMS & CONDITIONS

The Low-Cost TAVI Flagship Program aims to provide affordable Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI) for patients with aortic stenosis. These terms and conditions outline the eligibility, responsibilities, and other critical guidelines for participants in the program.

Eligibility Criteria:

  1. Medical Evaluation: Patients must undergo a thorough medical assessment by the hospital’s heart team to determine their suitability for TAVI.

    This assessment includes:
    Diagnosis of severe aortic stenosis.
Assessment of surgical risk indicates that the patient is either at high risk for open-heart surgery or is deemed inoperable due to underlying medical conditions.
Age Consideration: Priority may be given to elderly patients (generally above 65 years), or those with serious comorbid conditions, making them ideal candidates for TAVI over traditional surgery.
Financial Eligibility: Patients must meet specific financial criteria to qualify for the low-cost initiative.
Verification of income, financial hardship, or insurance status may be required.
Documentation from insurance providers may be used for financial assistance.

  2. Program Inclusions

Pre-operative Evaluation: Comprehensive evaluation including ECG, echocardiography, CT angiography, and any other diagnostic procedures necessary for pre-procedural planning.

    TAVI Procedure:
The program covers the cost of the TAVI procedure itself, including the use of advanced technology and high-quality heart valves.
Fees for medical staff, operation theater, and related hospital charges for the procedure are included at a subsidized rate.

Post-operative Care: Monitoring in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) or high-dependency unit post-surgery for recovery for one day.

  3. Program Exclusions Additional

Treatments: Any additional treatments or interventions beyond the standard TAVI procedure may incur extra costs.
    This includes:
Non-TAVI-related surgeries or treatments. (Permanent pacemaker, Percutaneous coronary stenting)
Long-term medication outside of what is immediately related to the TAVI procedure.
All the drugs, laboratory tests, oxygen (beyond one day), ventilator charges, cross consultations in the postoperative care
Complications: The program does not cover costs arising from complications post-procedure that are unrelated to the TAVI itself (e.g., infections, stroke, dialysis, or other unrelated medical conditions).

    Third-party Costs:
Costs related to third-party diagnostics or referrals that are not directly part of the hospital’s program.
    Follow-up consultations and diagnostics.
The program does not cover external consultations, transportation, and accommodation.

  4. Payment Terms

Subsidized Cost: The TAVI procedure will be offered at a subsidized rate, and the patient or their family is expected to cover this reduced cost.

Payment Schedule: Full payment or the agreed-upon amount for the TAVI procedure must be made before the surgery.

Refunds: Once the procedure is scheduled, any cancellation by the patient will be subject to hospital-specific refund policies. Refunds for medical reasons (such as ineligibility post-evaluation) will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.

  5.  Insurance and Government Schemes

Insurance Coverage: Patients who have health insurance coverage must provide documentation at the time of admission. The hospital may assist with the insurance claim process if the policy covers TAVI.

Government Assistance: If the patient qualifies for a government healthcare scheme or financial assistance program, it must be disclosed during the initial assessment to benefit from the full or partial subsidy. For government schemes, the patient has to pay first the total amount and then he can go for reimbursement.

  6.  Confidentiality

Patient Data: All medical and personal information shared with the hospital will remain confidential and be used solely for the purpose of diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up care related to the TAVI program.

Outcome Reporting: The hospital may collect and analyze data related to the outcomes of the TAVI procedure for research and quality improvement, ensuring patient anonymity.

  7.  Responsibilities of the Patient and Family

Medical Disclosure: Patients are responsible for providing accurate and complete medical history, including information about any medications, allergies, or underlying health conditions.

Compliance: Patients are expected to follow all pre- and post-procedure instructions provided by the healthcare team, including follow-up appointments, medication adherence, and lifestyle modifications.

Attendance: Missing any scheduled evaluations, procedures, or follow-up appointments without prior notice may result in disqualification from the program.

  8. Disqualification Criteria

Failure to Meet Medical Criteria: If during pre-operative evaluation the patient is found to be medically unfit for TAVI, they will be disqualified from the program.

Non-compliance: Failure to adhere to hospital policies, post-operative care guidelines, or other essential instructions may result in termination from the program.

  9. Rights Reserved by the Hospital

The hospital reserves the right to modify the program offerings, terms, and pricing based on resource availability and emerging medical practices. Refuse treatment if the patient’s condition is deemed too high-risk after initial assessments or if alternative treatments are considered more suitable.

  10.  Legal Disclaimer

Liability: While the hospital will take all necessary precautions to ensure the success of the procedure, medical interventions always carry inherent risks. The hospital cannot guarantee specific outcomes and shall not be held responsible for unforeseeable complications.

Indemnity: The patient and their family agree to indemnify the hospital and its staff from any claims, liabilities, or expenses arising from the procedure or any related services.

  11. Consent

By enrolling in the Low-Cost TAVI Flagship Program, patients agree to the terms and conditions outlined above. They must sign a formal consent form acknowledging their understanding of the risks, benefits, and responsibilities associated with the TAVI procedure.
